What has 19 Kids and Counting’s Jessa Duggar been up to?

During the fall of 2008, the TLC reality show 17 Kids and Counting made its premiere. The series, which followed devout Christians from Tontitown, Arkansas Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 17 children, was quick to gain attention reeling in millions of viewers per episode and becoming one of the network’s most popular shows. As years went by, viewers got to watch the series turn into 19 Kids and Counting with the birth of two more children. During its seven-year, ten season-long run, fans also got to witness three children get married as well as the birth of four grandchildren. By the time the show aired its final episode in 2015, it had already acquired an impressive fanbase and had made the Duggars one of the most famous reality TV families in the nation.

However, while the Duggar family had captured the hearts of millions of fans, they also had acquired their fair share of critics. The Duggars were often criticized for their strict religious views, parenting techniques, and far right-wing political beliefs. The children were all homeschooled, and were given a very limited access to movies, television, and music. The Duggars also insisted that their children practice chaperoned courtship instead of traditional dating, in which a couple meets and gets to know each other only in a group setting prior to marriage. Finally, the Duggars were faced with a huge public backlash when it came out that their eldest son, Josh, had inappropriately touched five underage girls, four of them being his sisters. Josh’s parents and siblings came to his defense, saying the media coverage of the case was overblown.

Although the popular reality series has since come to an end, the older Duggar siblings are keeping the legacy going strong with their current TLC show, Counting On.

One of the children in particular, Jim Bob and Michelle’s fourth child Jessa Seewald, has gained a great amount of fame over the last few years. After watching her grow up on 19 Kids and Counting, the now 25-year-old has a life and family of her own.

Similar to the rest of the Duggar family, Jessa is a devout Christian. She prides herself in being a stay-at-home mother to her two adorable children, Spurgeon and Henry, ages two and one. She is also a loving wife to her husband, fellow devout Christian, Ben Seewald. The family-of-four has been gaining a great amount of attention over the last couple years, with Jessa’s Instagram account sitting pretty with over two million followers.

However, just like Jessa’s parents, the Seewalds can’t seem to get a break when it comes to harsh critics. Jessa, in particular, knows a thing or two about being “mommy-shamed.” Whether it is the way she cleans her house, educates or even dresses her children, it seems like there are always plenty of haters out there ready to attack the young mother. Luckily, she doesn’t let them get her down, and is always there with a quick defense each time she is unfairly judged.
