Not only have the books given us a story to lose our mind in, but they have also come to life before our very eyes as the directors, production team, and writers all come together to make the written scenes a reality. However, one show that was creating a series long before these modern releases is Little House on the Prairie. Would they be able to give the words a soul?
Back in 1932, the first novel in the Little House on the Prairie series hit the shelves as author Laura Ingalls Wilder bought her childhood from the 1870s and ‘80s to life. 100 years later, NBC picked up the idea and gave the pages a new lease of life. The show first hit screens in 1974 and aired for eight years until the finale in 1982. However, it was so popular that talk of a movie is now underway with Paramount Pictures. The story follows the life of the Ingalls family – a family that all live on a small farm just outside of a village named Walnut Grove located in Minnesota. Many of the episodes follow the life of Laura (played by Melissa Gilbert) as well as her parents Charles (played by Michael Landon) and Caroline (played by Karen Grassle). There are also plenty of other characters that live and work throughout the town that help to tell the story of young Laura’s life. What could possibly go wrong in this drama hit?
It’s been nearly 36 years since we last saw the Little House on the Prairie on our screens, but that isn’t to say we have put the story behind us. In fact, it is still one of the biggest western shows to ever appear on our screens. So just what has happened to our favorite cast members after all these years? Did they ever make it away from the farm, or did their acting lives come to an end the day the cameras stopped rolling? Did they continue to dominate Hollywood, or have these stars stumbled across a new path in life that has given them a new lease of life? Now it’s time to stop wondering as we are about to dive in headfirst and find out.
